General Introduction

 

YUSHI single-crystal straight beam probes used in nondestructive testing is a kind of ultrasonic probes that uses the piezoelectric effect of the material to convert electrical and acoustic energy. They are generally composed of piezoelectric wafers, damping blocks, protective films and housings. Single-crystal straight beam probe is one of the most important components of the ultrasonic testing system, and the performance of the probe directly affects the ultrasonic testing ability and effect.

 

 

Composition of the Probe

 

1.Piezoelectric wafers

The piezoelectric element is the core element of the probe, which emits and receives ultrasonic waves. The wafer is made of piezoelectric single crystal cut in a certain way and in a certain direction, or made of piezoelectric ceramics by polarization.

2.Protective Film

A protective film is generally added in front of the piezoelectric element of the straight probe, which is used to protect the piezoelectric element and electrode from wear and damage. The protective film must have good wear resistance, high strength, low sound attenuation, good sound permeability and appropriate thickness. Protective films are divided into soft protective films and hard protective films. Hard protective film is commonly made of alumina (corundum), metal sheet, etc. Soft protective film is often made of polyester soft plastic.

3.Damping Blocks

The damping block, also known as the absorption block, adheres to the back of the piezoelectric wafer, and its function is to prevent the inertial vibration of the wafer and absorb the sound energy radiated from the back of the wafer, thereby reducing the pulse width and clutter signal interference.

4.Housing

The housing of the probe is made of metal or plastic, which holds and protects the entire probe element. The housing is equipped with a probe cable gland, which is available with screw or socket or bayonet. The surface of the housing is marked with the probe model number and specification.

We manufacture probes according to the ASTM-E1065 standard and provide each customer with a test report corresponding to a unique serial number that records the actual RF waveform and spectrum of each probe.Each test chart contains data such as center frequency, peak frequency,-6dB relative bandwidth and pulse width. The content in the certificate is traceable.
