About Semiconductor
A semiconductor is a material whose conductivity at room temperature is between that of a conductor and an insulator. Semiconductors are used in integrated circuits, consumer electronics, communication systems, photovoltaic power generation, lighting, and high-power power conversion, such as diodes are made of semiconductors.
The Characteristics of Semiconductors
Semiconductor materials have some characteristics. For example, the use of semiconductor resistivity and temperature relationship can be made to automatically control the thermal element (thermistor); the use of its light-sensitive properties can be made to automatically control the light-sensitive elements, such as photocells, photocells and photoresistors.

About Tested Samples

We received a sample of semiconductor silicon material from a customer, which is dark blue in color, very brittle and chemically stable. The thickness is about 0.75mm and the width is about 1.5-2.6mm. The customer would like to measure the thickness with an ultrasonic thickness gauge to confirm that the material thickness meets the standard and is uniform.
Measurement Results

Due to the small size of the sample, a probe with a very small contact surface should be used. We use YUSHI PM5 Gen2 and 15MHZ pen type
probes to perform measurements. However, due to the narrow end of the delay block on the pen-type probe, it is difficult to keep the probe perpendicular to the surface of the material under test, which may result in a small or even no echo signal. This is where a test stand can come in handy, with its narrow delay block end coupling the probe to a very small measurement surface, resulting in a more stable measurement with clear echoes and correct results.
