Applications of Light Bulb

We use light bulbs every day. As a part of our lives, the most common application of light bulbs is lighting. But with the progress of society, the uses of light bulbs have changed a lot. Functional lights for different purposes, such as "photography, signs, automotive, landscaping," and more. Whether they provide basic lighting functions or are used in creative and technical fields, light bulbs have a wide range of applications.

Compostion of Light Bulb

bulb shell thickness measurement

Light bulbs are mainly composed of filaments, housings, heads and other components. The materials of the bulb shell mainly include glass, plastic and ceramic. The material of the bulb is an important factor affecting its performance. Different materials have their own advantages and disadvantages. Light bulb manufacturers will choose suitable materials for production according to actual needs. During the production process, there are also certain requirements for the wall thickness of the bulb to ensure that the product is beautiful, practical, firm and safe.

Product Sample

We receive the products from our customers, they are an experienced light bulb manufacturer. We need to measure the thickness of the bend of light bulbs.

Measurement Analysis

The sample we received was a closed sphere and therefore could not be measured with calipers or micrometers. The main advantage of the ultrasonic thickness measurement method is that it can measure the thickness of closed containers and other samples with complex shapes where it is difficult or impossible to access both sides of the material. This method measures the thickness by touching only one side of the workpiece.

When measuring, considering the shape of the workpiece is a bubble or tube with curvature, it is necessary to choose a probe with a small contact surface, and a probe with a large contact surface can not completely contact such a small measuring surface, the echo is unstable, and some parts of it can not even get the bottom echo, which can not be realized.

Therefore, in order to realize accurate measurement, we chose a 15Mhz pen probe with a pen probe holder, so that the probe can be stably coupled with the measured workpiece.

Measurement Results

We make measurements using either the standard probe of the YUSHI PM5 Gen2 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge or a pencil delay line probe (depending on the curvature of the measurement surface). When the narrow end of the pencil probe is perpendicular to the surface of the material being measured, the echo signal is greatest and the measurement is most stable. At this point we need to use a test stand for testing, which ensures stable and accurate measurements, clear echoes and good repeatability. Directional capture or automatic freezing can also be selected to make the measurement more convenient and faster.

YUSHI ULTRASONIC THICKNESS GAUGE

Ultrasonic thickness gauges can be used to measure all common glass, plastic and ceramic products, including bottles, containers, pipes, plates, and more. For some workpieces with complex geometry or other special shapes, we recommend the water immersion method of measurement. If you have the same measurement requirements in your application or have problems with the measurement, please feel free to contact us and we will provide you with the best solution.
