Measurement Principle
The ultrasonic thickness gauge emits high-frequency pulse signals, penetrates the coating and reflects back to the probe, and calculates the coating thickness using the time difference of ultrasonic reflection at the interface between the coating and the substrate. Suitable for measuring coatings (such as paint and other non-metallic materials) on non ferromagnetic materials (such as concrete, fiberglass, etc.), measuring the thickness of ferromagnetic coatings on ferromagnetic surfaces, and measuring the thickness of conductive coatings on non ferromagnetic surfaces.
Operation Process
1.Calibrate the instrument
- Zero Point Adjustment
After turning on,adjust the instrument parameters according to the instructions and calibrate the zero point and sound velocity of the instrument probe.
- Accuracy Verification
Use standard test pieces to verify the accuracy of the instrument and ensure that the error is within the allowable range.
2.Apply the Couplant
Apply coupling agent (such as specialized ultrasonic coupling agent) evenly on the concrete surface to ensure good contact between the probe and the surface and reduce signal attenuation.
3.Measurement Operation
- Probe Placement
Press the probe vertically onto the coating surface to avoid tilting or sliding.
- Read Data
After the data turns white, it indicates that the measurement value is stable, and the thickness value can be read. At this time, the value is the surface coating of the concrete.

Points of Operation
1. Calibration: Before measurement, it is necessary to test the instrument with standard plates to ensure accuracy.
2. Layout: Non destructive testing: no less than 3 measuring points per 100cm ².
3. Environmental conditions: Surface condition: Before measurement, it is necessary to ensure that the measured surface is free of dust and oil stains to avoid affecting the measurement values.
